A decorative four-colour gold snuff box with enamel miniature "Joseph sold into slavery"
Case: 18K gold, maker's mark illegible, Swiss 18k gold standard, Neuchâtel 1820-1866.
Case: rectangular box with rounded corners, hinged lid with very finely painted rectangular enamel medallion: biblical scene showing Joseph being sold into slavery to Egypt, in a wide frame of applied gold flowers on a sablé ground. Base and sides with engine-turned pattern, rounded corners decorated with harps and petals.
