719 Gutkaes & Lange Dresden, Case No. 3346, 47 mm, 91 g, circa 1865  A gentleman’s important Glashuette pocket watch with 24 hour indicator, from the beginning of the Lange watch production. It is the first of only nine Lange watches in total with 24 hour dial Case: silver, polished, reeded sides, engraved silver dome with dedication engraving: “Fernando Ganter”, gold hinges. Dial: enamel, radial Arabic hours, auxiliary seconds, blued spade hands. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, frosted, gilt, keywind, gold screw compensation balance, gold lever and -escape wheel. This watch shows that Lange began looking for overseas sales opportunities at an early stage. Fernando Ganter was a German emigrant from Lenzkirch and ran a successful jewellery store in Madrid with at least one branch in London. We know of another watch by Julius Assmann that also bears the sales mark of Fernando Ganter.
