A rare, very fine gold enamel half-pearl and diamond set pendant form watch designed as a lyre with concealed dial and visible balance
Case: gold, enamel, half-pearls, diamond. Dial: enamel. Movm.: miniature full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance.
Front and back are decorated with engine-turned pattern and translucent red enamel. The sides as well as top and bottom have Champlevé enamel and half-pearl ornaments; the back of the hinged bottom shows a gold flower bush with green enamelling and the neck of the instrument is embellished with a delicate petal of half-pearls with a central diamond. The front top is studded with half-pearls and shows exquisite green Champlevé leaf scrolls. The sound hole is studded with pearls and fitted with a glass panel, revealing the balance bridge. The strings are made of gold.
