A rare Art Deco wristwatch
Case: 18k gold, screws on the band, crown set with sapphire cabochon, 18k gold buckle. Dial: silvered. Movm.: bridge movement, signed Cartier Paris, gold screw compensation balance.
Designed in 1904, the production of the Cartier Santos began in 1911.
Louis Cartier created the "Santos" model in 1904 for his friend, the famous pilot Alberto Santos-Dumont. It is particularly remarkable because this is the first wristwatch for gentlemen as well as the first aviator’s watch ever produced by Cartier.
