Abraham Louis Breguet "Horloger de La Marine Royale", Case No. 3871, 53 mm, 99 g, circa 1822
An important quarter repeating pocket watch with secret signature, sold on October 28, 1822 to "Duriveau, Officier Superieur du Genie" for 1.320 Francs - with Breguet certificate no. 4466
Case: 18k pink gold, case design "quatre baguettes", polished, engine-turned band, pusher for repetition at "2", case maker's punch mark "LJ 58" (Joly). Dial: enamel, Breguet numerals, secret signature below "12", signed: "Breguet et Fils", blued Breguet hands. Movm.: bridge movement, keywind, gilt, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued balance spring with bimetallic temperature compensation curb on the index, shock protection-"parachute".
Lieutenant Colonel Duriveau was at the French engineering corps and later president of the "l'École polytechnique à Paris". Alexandre Dumas mentioned Duriveau in his memoirs from 1863.
