An ornamental Swiss enamel miniature carriage clock with minute repeater and 8-day power reserve, for the English market
Case: sterling silver, enamel, bun feet. Dial: enamel. Movm.: rectangular-shaped movement, keywind, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, platform with lever escapement, screw compensation balance.
High rectangular silver case with George Stockwell import stamp (for Stockwell & Co., London). Allover with lavish engine-turned ornamentation; visible sides decorated with translucent cobalt blue enamel inside a slim white frame. High oval, framed enamel dial with delicately striped pattern on the front. Translucent cabochon push-piece for activating the minute repeater, with two polished steel hammers/two gongs.
The company Geneva Clock Co. / Fabrique Genevoise de Pendulettes SA / L. Tissot & Co. was based in Geneva and registered there on November 1, 1880. The orginal company is "LTC" nestled between two diamonds.
