Emmanuel Olivier Boudeaud (1866-1924) was "Vice-président de la chambre syndicale de l'horlogerie" and "Horloger de la Marine". He took over the business at Boulevard de Port Royal 50 from Bernard Callier, who in turn had taken it over from Joseph Thaddäus Winnerl.
The Bureau des Longitudes was founded on June 25, 1795 and charged with finding methods for the determination of longitude at sea - just like the British Board of Longitude, which had been in existence since 1714.
