An extraordinary half hunting case pocket watch for the Ottoman market
Case: brass, firegilt, tortoiseshell, Vernis Martin, stud decoration. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, Ottoman signature, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance.
Ralph Gout (circa 1770-1836) is a native of Switzerland. He was an important watch and clock maker in London. Bankrupt in 1796 when his stock included many watches for Spanish and Indian markets and pedometer watches.
