French, Height 115 mm, circa 1850
A fancy and attractive enamel miniature balloon clock
Case: silver, enamel. Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement, keywind, three-arm brass balance.
The lovingly created basket under the balloon is accurate in every detail and comes with anchor and ballast. The balloon itself is decorated with translucent light blue enamel on engine-turned ground; its top part folds back to reveal the watch inside. A light blue cut stone sits on top of the balloon, which is held up by a gently curved silver stand with ornamental turquoises and two winged female figures - this is truly an exquisite piece of art!
