Universal Genève, "Golden Janus Cabriolet", Ref. 042.400.15, 27 x 41 mm, circa 1994
A unique "Modèle Unique" Geneva wristwatch with double-sided time indicator, jump hour, day/night indicator and date, produced to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Universal Genève branch in 1994.
Case: platinum/18k pink gold, push back, original steel/gold deployant clasp. Dial: front and back side mother-of-pearl.
Universal Genève was founded in 1894 by Numa Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret. In 1984 the model "Golden Janus" was launched on occasion of the company’s 100th anniversary; the watch has a rectangular, hinged case, so that it can be lifted and turned over - similar to the design of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. The front dial only shows the time; date, day, night and hours are displayed on the back with a digital jump hour window.
