Jaeger-LeCoultre "Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea", Case No. 2781348, Ref. 134.8.96, Cal. 956, 40 mm, circa 2012
An automatic diving wristwatch in near mint condition, with alarm - limited edition no. 522 of 959 pieces - with original box, certificate and operating instructions
Case: steel, screw back with engraved diving emblem. Dial: black.
In 1959 Jaeger-LeCoultre revealed their Memovox Deep Sea, the first diving watch equipped with an alarm which revolutionised underwater exploration. The purpose of the alarm is to remind the diver when to return to the surface. In 2011, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched a new version of the Memovox Deep Sea which stays true to the original 1959 design and function.
The tribute model comes in two versions - a limited series of 359 watches for the American market and the series of 959 pieces for the European market that pays homage to the original launch in the year 1959. The main difference is in the design of the dial; the European version has less writing on the dial.
