Wittnauer Watch Co. Inc, Swiss, Case No. 46 19978, Cal. Val 22, 36 mm, circa 1950
An attractive vintage wristband chronograph with 30 min. counter and blue tachy scale
Case: steel, screw back, movement protection cap. Dial: silvered.
The sturdy steel case of this Wittnauer chronograph dating from the 1950s is almost immaculate and only shows minute signs of wear. The original dial with finely patinated luminous numerals and hands is equally perfect. Thanks to the movement protection cap the chronograph movement is in likewise excellent condition and starts immediately.
The company Wittnauer was founded in 1885 in the United States of America by Swiss native Albert Wittnauer. He imported high-quality timepieces from Switzerland, among them brands such as Audemars Piguet, Vacheron & Constantin, Jaeger and of course Longines. Albert Wittnauer was the sole importer and exclusive agent for Longines watches in the U.S. and soon started to produce his own timepieces for Longines.
