Patek Philippe Genève, Movement No. 938237, Case No. 667841, Ref. 2459, Cal. 12'''-120, 36 mm, circa 1951
An extremely rare vintage Geneva wristwatch with extended teardrop lugs, sold on August 11th, 1952 - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: 18k rose gold, push back. Dial: silvered.
Production of reference 2459 began in 1950; the first series - which this timepiece is part of - used calibre 12'''-120, the second one was fitted with calibre 12'''-400. The size of the watch is unusually large for the 1950s, which gives it a modern, well-proportioned appearance today. The unusual teardrop lugs are certainly an eye-catcher, as are the silvered dial with its warm, velvety hue, the gold numerals, indexes and alpha hands.
