A gentleman's fine pocket watch with duplex escapement - with dedication engraving in commemoration of the English philantropist George Moore


Case: 18k gold, gold dome with presentation engraving "T. H. Chester In loving memory of George Moore, who died Nov. 21st 1876", case maker's punch mark "AS" (Alfred Stram). Dial: enamel. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, gold screw compensation balance.

George Moore (9 April 1806 – 21 November 1876) was an English merchant and philanthropist. He was born in Mealsgate, Cumberland. Moore accumulated great wealth and built a mansion in Kensington Palace Gardens.
