Lot 381

Patek Philippe à Genève, Movement No. 937002, Case No. 2802691, Ref. 894, Cal. 17''-170, 47 mm, 51 g, circa 1978

A very fine, extra flat, skeletonized Geneva pocket watch, sold on July 22nd, 1983 - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: 18K gold, lavishly hand-engraved, glazed on both sides, crown set with ruby cabochon. Dial: skeletonized, engine-turned. Movm.: bridge movement, gilt, lavishly hand-engraved, Glucydur screw balance.
To the best of our knowledge, only five examples of this unusual reference have ever been presented at auctions.
Eventually the hand setting mechanism was not reduced to an absolute minimum like the rest of this remarkable movement - after all, some room was needed for the Patek Philippe logo! All visible surfaces have been elaborately decorated with ornamentation such as the famous Calatrava Cross above the open barrel.
