Lot 359

Rolex Swiss "Chronographe Anti-Magnetique", Ref. 3233, 31,5 mm, circa 1940
An elegant antimagnetic vintage wristwatch with chronograph and hidden lugs, so called "Moneta"
Case: 18k gold, push back, Rolex buckle "Plaque". Dial: silvered.
Reference 3233 is a very unusual model that is completely different to other Rolex chronographs. It was introduced in 1938 and production only ran for three years. Typical features of reference 3233 are the "hidden lugs" that have been positioned much further back than usual. This piece has an outer, black tachy scale and an inner, blue telemeter scale, which look marvellous with the silvered dial and the gold hands. The dial has a developed a slight patina but is in overall fantastic original condition. The nickname "Moneta" (coin) comes from the watch’s relatively small size and from its shape - a fine piece for any lover of unconventional Rolex watches.
