Omega, Swiss, Movement No. 11028015, Case No. 10758195, Ref. 2393, Cal. 33.3 CHRO T5PO, 37 mm, circa 1950
An important and extremely rare, 18k gold luxury vintage wrist chronograph, with black dial, 30-minute counter, inner spiral tachy scale and outer telemeter scale
Case: 18k gold, push back, oval chronograph pushers, "Omega" leather bracelet with gold-coloured "Omega" buckle. Dial: black.
This extremely attractive chronograph is fitted with Omega’s legendary 33.3 manual wind system. The movement is regarded as predecessor of Omega’s calibre 321, i.e., the Lemania calibre CH27. The letters on the breathtaking black enamel dial are in gold colour; the dial has two sunk subsidiary dials – the small second at 9 o’clock and the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. It also features an inner spiral tachy scale and an outer telemeter scale. The exquisite gold leaf hands are in perfect harmony with the beautiful calligraphy of the Empire numerals marking the hours, with the case finished in the same warm gold hue. The overall condition of the timepiece is excellent with olive-shaped pushers and the original winding crown. While the size of this chronograph was unusually large at the time, it is a marvellously elegant yet very sporty vintage timepiece with a fascinating and rare dial configuration in outstanding condition.
This watch is illustrated and described in: Marco Richon "Omega", Bienne 2007, p. 537.
