An hour striking verge pocket watch
Case: brass, remains of fire gilding, rear bell. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, gilt, signed, chain/fusee, 1 hammer, florally engraved barrel for strike mechanism, three-arm iron balance, very finely florally engraved, pierced balance cock.
Andreas Nagl of Vienna was born in 1624; he became a master in 1667 and died in 1710. He is known for several table and bracket clocks and night clocks, as well as a miniature pendant watch, which was – at a size of only 33 x 18 mm – one of the smallest timepieces of its time. Nagl was considered to be one of the most important Vienna watchmakers.
