Breguet à Paris, Case No. 4214, 55 mm, 62, circa 1800
A fine gold enamel pocket watch studded with half pearls - with corresponding chatelaine
Case: gold/gilt brass/enamel, case maker's punch mark "SG". Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, three-arm brass balance.
This pocket watch is in excellent condition and shows an exceptionally fine enamel painting on its back. Diana, goddess of the hunt, is portrayed on a bright azure ground; she holds her bow and wears a crescent moon in her hair. The medallion is framed by a row of half pearls that continues on the front. The chatelaine has three parts and is decorated with four opaque light blue enamel plaques. On the chain are a key, a signet and a signet with agate ornamentation showing the carved portrait of a lady.
