A rare French lyre clock with half hour self strike
Case: mahogany and chased firegilt ormolu mountings. Rectangular base, ornamented with acanthus foliage, 4 bun feet. Lyre-shaped case with fine cornucopia ormolu mounts, floral surmountings over adumbrated strings with florally chased pendulum behind. The lyre-shaped case bears the clock. Dial: ormolu dial with florally chased bezel, radial Roman numerals, engine-turned centre, blued Breguet hands, signed. Movm.: circular brass full plate movement, 2 barrels, 1 hammer / 1 bell, solid movement pillars, locking plate, anchor escapement, compensation gridiron pendulum.
