A Viennese astronomical, ebonized quarter repeating splendour table clock with quarter hour / hour self strike, alarm and carillon
Case: wood, ebony veneer, moulded, gilt bronze fittings. Rectangular shape with arched gable. Base with four protruding diagonal plinth pieces with three-dimensional putti playing flutes; matching pilasters with flaming vases on top, all sides with gilt rocaille fittings. Front and back with glazed doors, side parts with glazed frames. Arched gable with bust on top. Dial: arched gilt dial with floral engraving, spandrels decorated with angels; applied silver chapter ring with hours, inlaid radial Roman hours; signed, frosted and gilt centre with silver alarm disc and opening for the mock pendulum, window for date indicator. Applied silver chapter rings with engraving: regulator scale, day of the week with saint’s name, months with signs of the zodiac and on/off lever for the tune "Silentium/Sonat". Upper arch with semicircular opening for the blued rotating moon phase disc and Arabic numerals for moon phase and moon age. Blued hands. Movm.: square brass full plate movement, signed, very finely engraved with foliate scrolls and a Cupid, 3 x gut/fusee for going and striking train, 6 hammers, 6 bells, hour strike on a further bell, baluster-shaped movement pillars, micro-teethed train, verge escapement.
