A gentleman's very fine, heavy minute repeating tandem winding pocket watch with stoppable independent jumping quarter seconds "Seconde Foudroyante" and chronograph Case: 18k gold, tiered, polished, à goutte, pusher for chronograph at "1 and 11", slide for repeating mechanism, glazed movement. Dial: enamel, Arabic numerals, 1/4 seconde foudrayante, blued spade hands. Movm.: bridge movement, ébauche: attributed to Louis Audemars, rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, tandem winding with click works for two barrels, gold train, gold screw compensation balance, counterpoised lever.
This exceptional and very rare timepiece by Louis Audemars ist not only outstanding due to the perfect quality of its train and its repeating mechanism, it has also been fitted with an elaborate rattrapante mechanism (without return to zero) beneath the dial and Audemars’ quarter second jump complication. The small depression in the middle of the gold repeater slider was another one of Louis Audemars distinguishing features.
