A very fine Swiss musical snuff box
Case: gold, master's mark "LCL" and a crown above in a lozenge, third gold standard mark of Geneva 1809-1814.
Rectangular boxes, rounded corners, on all sides chased and engine-turned, partly dark blue enamelled. The lid, the sides and the base with geometric patterned ornaments within a narrow blue enamel border. The lid with a centred vase in an octagonal cartouche. The borders of the base and lid with a band of foliate ornaments, blue enamelled flower heads and lozenges on a Sablé ground. The slanted corners with champlevé enamelled floral decorations. The base with winding aperture. Movm.: brass, gilt, numbered, pin barrel, 54 tuned vibrating blades, two-arm fly worm-gear governor.
