A very fine gold enamel verge pocket watch with rare and early gold paillon flower applications "Venus disarming her son Cupid"
Case: 20k gold, the back in opaque light-blue enamel centered by a finely painted monochrome scene depicting Venus taking his bow away from her son Cupid within a translucent green enamelled border over gold paillons resembling engine-turning; cross-shaped frame decorated with paillon flowers on a white enamel background and translucent green enamelled cartouches. Large lateral hinge, paste-set thumb-piece. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, paste-set, Louis XVI hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, signed, gilt, chain/fusee, conical movement pillars, three-arm brass balance, fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
