A rare quarter repeating coach clock
Case: silver, polished back side, pierced and finely florally hand-engraved border on the front side, rear bell, string for repetition, large lateral hinge. Dial: champlevé, inlaid radial Roman hours, signed, pierced gilt hands. Movm.: full plate movement, applied, engraved, florally pierced decorations, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, engraved barrel, 2 hammers, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, very finely florally engraved, pierced balance cock.
Philip Graezl/Graet
Philip Graezl is mentioned as watchmaker in Linz for the first time in 1719. In 1720, 1730, 1737 and 1741 Graezl worked for Count Thuerheim; he died in 1744.
