Jacques Le Mazurier à Paris, Height 690 mm (bracket 200 mm, clock 490 mm), circa 1740
A French Louis XV boulle bracket clock with unusual quarter repeater on three bells, signaling the time before or after the half hour with a double strike.
Case: wood, brass, partly gilt, boulle inlay with tortoiseshell and brass, four feet with dragon ornamentation; glazed door and sides, gilt bronze mountings with volutes, rocailles, acanthus and flower tendrils; below the dial the applied figure of an eagle killing a snake; bell top crowned by a putto with hour glass; string for repetition. Corresponding bracket. Dial: brass, gilt, chased decor, enamel cartouches with blue radial Roman numerals, below an applied enamelled signature plaque, finely pierced iron hands. Movm.: rectangular brass movement, signed, moulded movement pillars, 3 hammers, 3 bells, 1 barrel for going train, 1 barrel for repetition, keywind, verge escapement, pendulum with silk string suspension.
