Maurice Ditisheim, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Case No. 11162, 56 mm, 125 g, circa 1890
A very fine minute repeating hunting case pocket watch with 2 jacquemarts
Case: 14k rose gold, engine-turned, gold dome, maker's mark of Maurice Ditisheim (angel with bell and hammer),slide for repeating mechanism. Dial: central translucent cobalt-blue enamel chapter dial over an engine-turned ground, radial Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds, black background with screwed on pink gold bell striking figures: left side Chronos, right side two Cupids, Louis XV hands. Movm.: divided 3/4 plate movement frosted, gilt, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, screwed chatons, screw compensation balance, index spring fine adjusting device, counterpoised lever.

Swiss watchmaker and entrepreneur.
In 1858 Ditisheim opened a workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds that quickly grew into the manufactory "Maurice Ditisheim"; in 1894 the factory began producing watches under the brand name "Vulcain". Ditisheim was one of the first patrons of the MIH (Musée International d'Horlogerie), which was the the international watch museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
