A very fine and rare figure mantel clock with half hour strike, "Victoria, deified personification of victory, patron of the Roman emperor and virgin guardian of the empire"
Case: patinated bronze, partly firegilt. Sculpture of Victoria standing on a firegilt globe with her long flowing dress molded to her body by the wind. She holds the firegilt drum shaped clock over her head. Block-shaped base, patinated bronze with gilded Empire applications and palmetto frieze all round. Dial: brass, gilt, enamel chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, signed, blued Breguet hands. Movm.: circular brass full plate movement, signed, 1 hammer / 1 bell, 2 barrels, keywind, 8 day-movement, anchor escapement, count wheel, silk string suspension, short pendulum.
