A rare signet of the late Sir James Hamlyn-Williams (1790-1861) with 18k gold pocket watch chain
Case: 18k gold, hinged, front with golden insignia: portrait and lettering in high relief "Georgius III Dei Gratia". The back with inlaid hematite plaque and signet intaglio of the Hamlyn family of Clovelly Court in Devon: swan and motto "Caute, Sed Strenue" ("cautiously but vigorously"). Inner glazed compartment holding a lock of hair.
