, circa 1700A rare quarter repeating "Oignon" verge pocket watch with mock pendulum
Case: brass, gilt, remains of "Shagreen", gold stud decoration, sound holes, rear bell, pusher for repetition via pendant. Dial: gilt, enamel cartouches with blue radial Roman numerals, the centre with chased foliate ornament, blued "Poker & Beetle" hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, 2 hammers, "mock pendulum balance", finely engraved and chased balance bridge.
André Sebille
Sebille was a watchmaker in Paris, located on Rue de la Calandre. He was married to Charlotte Lemoyne, the sister of the watchmaker Claude François Lemoyne in the Rue de la Huchette. From 1702 André Sebille trained Jean Lejay to be a watchmaker. André Sebille is still mentioned in the archives in 1709 .
