The amplitude limiting device ("anti-galop" feature) A small blued steel pin which is fixed on one of the turns of the balance spring and at right angles to its surface, forms the amplitude limiting device (the "anti-galop" feature); the pin is mounted in such a way that in case of too large an amplitude of the balance spring, it blocks the gap between two upright pins and suppresses the further turn of the balance.
