An Augsburg verge pocket watch
Case: 18k rose gold, the back side with engraved decor: flower garlands and a central oval medallion depicting an eagle and military equipment, large lateral hinge. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, Louis XVI hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, richly engraved, chain/fusee, square baluster pillars, three-arm brass balance, fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
By 1780 clockmaking in Augsburg was long past its zenith; there are only very few timekeepers from this period that bear an Augsburg signature.
