An ornamental rococo miniature pendulum clock with alarm
Case: ormulu, rococo base lavishly ornamented with volutes, acanthus and flower heads, applied patinated bronze sculpture of a bull carrying the richly ornamented clock on its back. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, signed, single alarm hand with half-moon tip, Louis XVI-hands. Movm.: round verge watch movement, gilt plate, keywind, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, engraved and florally pierced balance bridge, 1 hammer / 1 bell.
An ornamental pendulum clock in the collection of F. Perrez de Olaguer-Feliu in Barcelona that has an identical bull is described and illustrated in "Die Französische Bronzeuhr" by Elke Niehueser, Munich 1997, p. 240.
