A very fine and rare Victorian strut clock with calendar and 8 day power reserve in the manner of Thomas Cole - with original silk-lined morocco case


Case: brass, gilt, facet glazed front, finely chased and florally engraved, tiered frame, the sides decorated with applications of florally engraved pilasters, finely engraved eyelet, hinged stand. Dial: silvered, finely decorated with flower and foliage engravings, eccentric hour chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, two subsidiary calendar rings below for weekdays and date, blued Fleur-de-Lys hands. Movm.: square brass full plate movement, keywind, platform with lever escapement, gold screw compensation balance.

The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company
The firm was established in 1880 by William Gibson (d. 1913) and John Lawrence Langman (1846-1928). The firm participated to a number of national and international exhibitions, as Colonial and Indian Exhibition (London, 1886), Paris (1889), Chicago (1893), California (1894), Paris (1900) and Franco-British Exhibition (London, 1908).
