Case: 20K gold, back and bezel decorated with gold foliage and opaque enamel flowers in low relief: roses, tulips and forget-me-nots on translucent green enamel ground with engine-turned pattern, makers mark "JQ" with a star, charge mark Julien Berthe (1750-1756), Parisian guild punch mark "K" for the years 1750-1751, large lateral hinge. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, signed, gold Louis XV hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, 2 hammers, three-arm steel balance, fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
François Antoine Jolly
In 1737 F.A. Jolly worked as a 'free craftsman' for Lazare Duvaux at Place Dauphine; from 1747 on he worked as a master for jewellers J.D. Lempereur and S.L. Leblanc and handled cases by B. Lieutaud and F. Goyer. He delivered a diamond-studded watch to the Prince de Condé for the astounding price of 9,000 livres.
