Lot 294

Longines Watch Co., Swiss, Movement No. 7834210, Cal. 30CH, 35 mm, circa 1948
A rare vintage chronograph with blue tachy scale
Case: 14k gold, push back, later added glazed push back. Dial: silvered. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, Glucydur screw balance.
In 1947 Longines launched its calibre 30CH as a successor to the legendary calibre 13ZN of 1936, which was the first flyback chronograph wristwatch ever; calibre 30CH is considered to be the finest and most beautiful chronograph movement of all times by many.
It must be noted that this is the last calibre ever created by Longines themselves; even though Longines continued producing outstanding chronographs for many decades, the calibres used came from other manufacturers.
