A very fine, heavy Glashuette quarter repeating hunting case pocket watch - sold on 03/21/1898 for the sum of 907 Marks to M. Stellmann company in Hannover - manufactured in quality 1A - with Lange extract from the archives
Case: 18k rose gold, glazed movement. Dial: enamel. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, gold screw compensation balance.
This wonderful piece is something of a curiosity, in that the movement number differs from the case number by 1,000. The company records state that the engraver made an irreversible mistake – this is confirmed by the extract from the archives of the Glashuette watch museum.
Max Stellmann was a German watchmaker who trained at the German watchmaking school in Glashuette from 1906 to 1908. He was a member of the school’s Saxonia fraternity and lived in Hanover.
