A gentleman's extremely rare German experimental pocket watch with "pin lever chronometer escapement"
Case: silver. Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement, keywind, "Patent A. Sautter", three-arm brass balance.
Rare form of chronometer escapement, the steel lever forming the detent engages with a pin on the balance. Two steel pins set close together on its upper surface pass through a slot in the underside of the escape wheel teeth allowing one tooth to pass on every oscillation of the balance. The tip of the tooth gives impulse directly to a pallet on the balance staff.
