A rare Southern German quarter repeating verge pocket watch with date
Case: 14k rose gold. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, ring balance.
Benedikt Liebherr was a clock- and watchmaker who also founded a spinning company in Landshut. He trained in mechanical engineering at the institute of mathematical-mechanical engineering of Utzschneider, Reichenbach and Liebherr (Benedikt’s famous brother Joseph Liebherr) in Munich. He also attended lectures in Physics and Maths at the University of Landshut. In 1818 Benedikt opened his spinning mill with 60 employees.
