A silver medal by Georges Hantz for the celebration of the 1901 anniversary of Patek Philippe societè anonyme with original box
Signed Georges Hantz on the vers and "GH" on the front.
George Hantz was born 1846 in Chaux-de-Fonds. After apprenticing as an engraver and chaser he went to Geneva; in 1884 he was appointed director of the new Musée des Arts décoratifs and built up a large collection and an extensive library for the museum over the next 30 years. Hantz never lost interest in engraving and created a number of coins for special occasions. He died in 1920.
