Max Rudolph, Grimma, Deutsche Uhrmacherschule Glashütte i.S., Movement No. 340, Height 425 mm, dated 1886
An extremely rare bracket clock movement - made at the Deutsche Uhrmacherschule Glashuette - with Lange extract from the archives
Case: circular ebonized base, zaponed brass pillar, zaponed brass case, glazed to the back side. Dial: silvered, radial Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds at "12", signed, blued spade hands. Movm.: circular brass movement, ground, zaponed, signed, diameter 110 mm, applied platform with lever escapement, frosted, gilt, large screw compensation balance, counterpoised lever.
A number of bracket clocks were produced in the early days of the German watchmaking school. Some of the trainees only created the movement and chose a case later after leaving the school. Only a very lucky collector might be able to find one of these rare pieces.
