Rolex "Oyster Perpetual Datejust Superlative Chronometer officially certified Swiss", Movement No. D336414, Case No. 3468679, Ref. 1601, Cal. 1570, 36 mm, circa 1973
A gentleman's rare automatic wristwatch with date and DATEJUST prototype dial with letters "SWISS" above "6" o'clock, outer minute track without luminous material
Case: steel, 18k white gold bezel, screw back ref. 1601, screwed "Twinlock" winding crown, steel "Jubilee" bracelet Ref. 62510H. Dial: silvered. Movm.: rotorwind movement, Glucydur screw balance.
Most of these prototypes were used in production and either sold or given away. Some of them were part of very limited editions of one or two or even five to ten pieces, but all of them were officially delivered by Rolex. After the dials had been bought from a dial maker such as Singer, luminous material was added and the dials were signed at 6 o’clock with the tritium mark. All watches were recorded in the company archives.
