Pascal Hubert à Rouen, 59 mm, 246 g, circa 1680
A heavy one-handed verge pocket watch "Oignon" with alarm
Case: silver, rear bell. Dial: gilt, chased and engraved, enamel cartouches with blue radial Roman numerals, central alarm disc, blued steel hand. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, florally engraved barrel for alarm train, 1 hammer, ring balance with "mock pendulum", fine florally engraved balance cock.
French watchmaker Pascal Hubert was born around 1625 and according to Tardy he became a master in 1649. He worked with Jacques Gloria Sen., who was one of the first makers to create watches without fusee. Hubert died probably circa 1701.
