Johann Adam Six, Neuburg, Height 670 mm, circa 1760
A remarkable south German Baroque splendour pendulum clock with quarter hour / hour self strike, date and rare moon phase
Case: carved wood, golden painted, glazed front and sides. Dial: enamel. Movm.: rectangular brass full plate movement, 3 standing barrels for going train and quarter hour and hour striking train, 2 hammers / 2 bells, silk suspended pendulum with cyclodial cheeks.
The strikingly large, round bodied baroque-style case on four volute feet is lavishly decorated with three-dimensional carved volutes, rocailles and flowers and surmounted by a flower basket. The clock is fitted with an unusual moon phase above the dial: the four main phases of the moon are individually engraved on a silver plate and appear alternately in a crescent cut-out in the gilt brass dial. Next to it are two small silver discs "Repetiert nicht / Repetiert" and "Schlagt / Schlagt Nicht".
