A lever chronometer in practically new condition, most probably a graduate's piece of the watchmaking school in Besançon
Case: 18k pink gold. Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement, ébauche: LeCoultre, gold screw compensation balance with gold and platinum regulation screws, helical Palladium balance spring.
French watch manufacturer France & Chastant had their premises at Rue Neuve 12 in Valence in France. The business included not only the retail of watches and clocks and their repair but also the sale of electrical instruments. The clocks and watches were signed "France Chastant à Valence".
