Case: silver, rear bell. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, 1 hammer, 1 barrel.
William Gossage’s "portable alarum to be attached to and detached from clocks and watches" was patented on February 11, 1823. As anecdote has it, Gossage invented the alarum to play a trick on his French tutor by jolting him out of his sleep unusually early.
