A. Bartuszek Łódź / Paul Stübner, Glashütte/SA, Movement No. 546, 185 x 200 x 180 mm, circa 1926
A ship's chronometer with 56h power reserve
Case: mahogany. Dial: silvered. Movm.: brass movement, gilt, chain/fusee, spring detent escapement according to Thomas Earnshaw, "Griesbach"-chronometer balance with 4 weights and 2 screws.
A. Bartuszek was a chronometer maker in Łódź in Poland who had studied at the watchmaking school in Glashütte. He purchased the so-called "stage II" ebauche from Paul Stübner in Glashütte; stage II meant that the chronometer had a movement, hands, escapement, mainspring, chain and gilt rack. The final arrangement of the hairspring and the regulation was left to the chronometer maker; this kind of cooperation was very common at the time.
