Patek Philippe Genève, Movement No. 868898, Case No. 679102, Ref. 1463, Cal. 13''', 35 mm, circa 1956
An important Geneva wristwatch with chronograph, 30 min. counter and enamelled tachy scale, so called "Tasti Tondi" - sold on July 9th, 1958. The watch was given a general overhaul by Patek Philippe in August 2017. With original box, service invoice and Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: 18k gold, screw back, Patek Philippe leather bracelet and 18k gold buckle. Dial: gilt.
Reference 1463 was the first and only waterproof chronograph by Patek Philippe with screw back and finely engraved rounded chronograph buttons - the buttons gave the 1463 its nickname "Tasti Tondi" (Italian for round pushers). Presumably only about 750 pieces were ever produced, most of them in yellow gold, with a limited number of examples in stainless steel and a very small number of rosé gold pieces. Despite the limited production volume there are several variations of the model; this one has a monochrome silvered dial with enamel minute ring, tachy scale and Patek Philippe logo, applied raised gold indexes and Arabic gold numerals.
