A fine diamond-set gold enamel pendant form watch with concealed dial designed as a scarab
Case: 18k gold and enamel, diamonds, rubies. Dial: enamel. Movm.: oval-shaped bridge movement, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass ring balance.
The spring-loaded wings are decorated with translucent red enamel on engine-turned pattern and studded with old cut diamonds. The wings and the neck of the insect are covered with opaque black Champlevé enamel and studded with set diamonds. The head, which is decorated with translucent red enamel, and the hinged belly are realistically chased and engraved, the eyes are represented by two ruby cabochons. Inside the cover a picture can be inserted behind a panel.
