Risler & Carré, Paris, 69 mm, 247 g, circa 1900
An attractive small gold and jade carriage clock
Case: jade, 18k gold, white enamelled, applied pierced two-tone gold foliate scrolls, maker's punch mark "R & C" (Risler & Carré). Dial: enamel. Movm.: brass movement, screw compensation balance.
Risler & Carré were active as "Orfevres-Joailliers" in the Rue du Faubourg, Saint-Honoré 16 in Paris. The company was founded in 1897 by André Risler and Georges Albert Carré and specialised in fine silverware and jewellery. Risler & Carré received a gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900 and a "Grand Prix" award at various subsequent World Exhibitions. André Risler died unexpectedly on 1 October 1912 in Paris at the age of 49. His widow took over the company and founded the company "Veuve A. Risler & Carré".
